RBO Schools Design programme brings world‑class production design into schools through free Teacher CPD, classroom resources and Live Design Lessons – with no prior design experience needed.

The programme helps teachers and pupils explore story, character and mood through visual design, inspired by productions such as Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Magic Flute.

Through certified CPD and ready‑to‑use resources, teachers build confidence teaching the building blocks of design, while pupils develop creative problem‑solving, collaboration and spatial thinking, with clear links to Design & Technology, Art & Design, STEM and the wider curriculum.

Design Live Lessons connect classrooms with Royal Ballet and Opera designers and production artists, offering inclusive, hands‑on experiences with minimal setup.

Together, the programme supports creativity, confidence and engagement, delivering proven benefits for whole‑school improvement through design and creative thinking.

Open to teachers of all key ages and SEND, as well as those facilitating Design in education in any way.

Each attendee must create their own free RBO account and register individually for the CPD event in order to appear on the register. Unfortunately, registrations can’t be made on behalf of others.

Alongside the Design CPD, the Royal Ballet and Opera are also offering FREE, highly participatory Live Lessons led by expert artists. These classroom-ready and curriculum-aligned sessions bring world-class ballet, opera and design into your classroom, building pupils’ skills in Music, PE, Art & Design while boosting creativity, confidence and engagement.
